The Swing Commanders ia a stunningly vibrant and versatile group that performs anexciting mix of 1940′s classics, boogie-woogie, western swing, 50′s jump jazz and more.

Every member of the Swing Commanders sings and plays at least one instrument, sometimes three, yet what makes them stand out even above their incredible musical ability and performing skills is their sheer joie-de- vivre.

Add the Arion’s very different contribution and you will have an evening of music and excitement for the very modest outlay of £8. This will be a cracking concert, so book your tickets without delay.

The concert, with a massed choir of over 300 voices, was part of the Rotary Club of Manchester’s Centenary Celebrations. Singers from all over the North of England, including the Isle of Man congregated in Manchester, first to rehearse on Saturday afternoon, and then to give the concert in the evening. The choirs had been busy rehearsing the pieces chosen by the organisers for the past few months, but Saturday afternoon was the first time that the choirs had sung the music en masse. The massed choir were fortunate to be under the baton of Alan Herbert, conductor of Haydock Male Voice Choir, who ensured that we were all ‘singing from the same hymn sheet’, and all went smoothly. The choir was joine on the concert platform by Nigel Ogden who both accompanied the massed voices when appropriate and did two solo ‘spots’ in his own inimitable fashion. The massed choir sang many choral favourites both old and new, such as ‘Speed your Journey’, ‘By Babylon’s Wave’ , ‘Bring Him Home, ‘American Trilogy’ and many more., in front of a large Bridewater Hall audience.The evening ended with a ‘proms-style’ rendering of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory. As we wended our way home we able to reflect on a job well done, despite a long and tiring day.

A Night at the Opera is a celebration of youthful love and ardour, featuring some of the most cherished music from the world of opera.

The Co-Opera Co singers will be joined bythe Nelson Arion to present an evening filled with excitement and passion that only opera can provide.
